WHEN IT GOES WRONG

Poor Dawn was sadly left to cope
when her elderly owner, stricken with dementia, forgot the pony mare existed.
EMW were alerted to the home by a concerned neighbour. We found the old
pony in skeletal condition.

Dawn managed the short journey to our sanctuary and was so pleased to see other horses and ponies. She went into a warm and comfortable stable but in her advanced emaciated state sadly she collapsed and died quietly the same night.
If you know of horses and ponies belonging to elderly relatives or know of someone who is struggling to cope due to advanced age related problems or ill health make sure you
take a look at the animals as well as the person.
