USK HORSE FAIR 15th June

LATEST REPORT HERE

Usk horse fair was huge on Sunday - It is fast getting as big as Stow Fair and with the same stands and faces...
it was heaving by midday with hundreds of sellers and thousands of buyers.
There must have been close on 200 puppies and dogs on sale...mostly the fashionably tiny JR terriers and JR terrier crosses.
It amazes me people are prepared to pay 100's of pounds for what in essence are mongrels! Fashion is dictating!
One seller always has cages full of various breeds, staffies, collies, JR's and also bigger dogs too, many are
recently whelped bitches...some very sad sights.
No puppies came home with us this time. Unless we see something in terrible condition we do not buy from these people,
but we did bring home a tiny baby rabbit along with a terrified guinea pig, both were being rough-handled by young
lads who seeing our interest immediately  offered them to us. the rabbit is just a few weeks old. We did take them but  not for what they were asking!
Both are  now alright but the litle G-pig is still very traumatised.
What was worse was a terrified baby duckling being repeatedly thrown into the air and caught by youths who wouldn't relinquish it...
it's chances of survival were zero.... poor baby..and sold by vendors to under age buyers...
Although there was a Police presence this time, we have already requested RSPCA back up and Trading Standards officers  presence.
The whole concept of animal car boots is sickening and the welfare laws must change to encompass such places.
