NEW FOREST SALES AUGUST 3rd 2007

NEW FOREST SALE 3rd AUGUST 2007

It really was very tame apart from that one worrying lorry.
We helped a lovely lady buy a 15 year old mare who was going for meat - the lady didn?t know how to bid!
The mare went home with two very kind ladies for a pet/hack/quiet drive home.
The people who 'handle' the ponies still use the goad stick, too much for my liking.
There was the ?unofficial? market going on under the trees nearby with some poor looking young cobs being driven with their heads in the air - but no bearing reins.
A girl was riding a couple of very old hunter types in an effort to sell them - nothing fitted on the horse; saddle, bridle, shoes, nothing fitted on the girl either - jeans too small, trainers undone.
I saw some pups but they were being walked by kids and I don?t think they were for sale.
The pens have been much improved with wood doors which are less noisy and frightening.
I had to fetch the RSPCA chap to monitor the numbers going on 1 lorry and also to get some of the sold ponies watered. Report by EMW ?SB?
