LEOMINSTER AUCTION APRIL 23rd
As always Brightwells monthly horse
sale at
to attend.
Well organised with the emphasis on the welfare of the animals on site clearly paramount with the auctioneers. The pens are safe and individual but with room for two ponies if they are to be sold together or happier penned that way. Staff are uniformed, conspicuous and helpful as well as aware of potential welfare problems should they be asked to attend. All entries are pre-booked and must be led in to the sale ring which is rubber matted, covered with shavings which are kept clean after each horse has been through and constantly topped up. The sale ring is well fenced with the public kept back from the horses by barriers and stand seating during the selling period. There were a few of the die hard dealers in the entrance/exit but they are well aware of the need to keep it clear and it was never totally blocked like we see at many other auctions and which is in fact in breaching the 1990 Order - Obstruction and annoyance of horses (10-1)
Horses sold via Brightwells are checked in and any equine presented showing signs of illness/poor condition is not allowed through the ring. EQUINE MARKET WATCH Sanctuaries UK applaud the standard of selling and hope that this standard will be adopted by all other auctions as a good auction is reflected in the quality of horses on sale and prices attained.
