Henley auction 7th July 2007

HENLEY-IN-ARDEN Auction report by LD

"Henley wasn't bad really, if you don't see the long split feet or notice that not one horse had water or was offered a drink that I saw. No RSPCA that I saw.
I have to say the place was packed with both people and horses. There were a few quite nice horses but they didn't seem to be selling that well. A couple of black native ponies went for about £75 and another pony was unsold with the bidding not even reaching £100".

"There was a lovely heavy horse (Belgian I think, very heavy bay with no feather about 15.2) she had a lovely foal and they went (together) for about £1500.Some of the usual dealers seemed to be missing. I usually notice as usuals can be hard on the horses at loading time.

There was a little Welsh A stallion getting very frustrated in a pen in the middle of all the other horses, its time they had separate pens for stallions and the older colts.

There was another stallion a colored tied in a pen with a mare but they seemed to know each other and I don't think many people even noticed he was a stallion he was so quiet.
We had the usual really awful feet, a few cuts and knocks but nothing to make a fuss about. I didn't see one skinny horse (thats a first i think!) and I didn't see any being hit. I did feel sorry for one little skewbald Shetland foal, its mother was quite stressed and the poor foal looked Christmas crackered!"
