Dumfries Auction Report
Dumfries Horse Sale 10th May
Only 14 horses entered up front but approx 36 lots on the day, quite a variety, as usual, from the skinny shod
2yo colt which apparently was already being long lined and backed to a nice gentle well handled 3yo Clydesdale.
The usual collection of Shetlands, one very skittish, a number of scared yearlings, two of whom landed a home
with nice, quiet and caring people. (It took half an hour to load them but no-one raised a voice or lost their 'cool')
One entire donkey had travelled from Co Antrim on Friday--I don?t know if he sold--he was pretty skinny.
One BSJA pony and one local PC pony (unshod and very sore footed on the gravel car park)
At least 2 ? I am aware of - did not acquire lot numbers, one was a skewbald Shetland ''had lost its passport'' so it was
not accepted by the Auctioneers to go through the ring, but it was there to sell on the car park,
Another cob with mane in bands stayed behind a lorry all day and another never came off the lorry.
It was a very hot day and very few were offered water
The dealers were still doing business when most market staff had also left I?m sure the shod colt changed hands.
This donkey was thin, not emaciated, but he was far too quiet as an entire ( stallion) donkey given he was
in the presence of mares clearly in season
