After such a mild early winter and new year the change to sub-zero temps has come as a shock to both humans and animals alike. Having to manually fill water tanks from the only unfrozen tap on the yard is hard work, coupled with a maximum number in stables and heavy duty feeding February is probably the hardest month of the equine sanctuary year. We are lucky to have our excellent team of hardworking volunters including Astrid, Martin, Pete and Caz who all come along , some daily, some as work and family allows - all are so highly valued by this charity. We ran a small fundraising event in late January, a Burns Night supper,at a local venue which served superb food in a warm atmosphere but  sadly several of our trustees were unwell with pending illness and the event was not as well subscribed as we had hoped for. WE also feel  that due to illness we were not able to give of ourselves as much as we had intended to do and we apologise to anyone who attended who felt that the event was not quite as advertised. We are now aware that January is not a good month for social gatherings and have learnt a lesson. Nevertheless the event generated over £130 much need at this time of year. Our thanks got to Jim and Elin of No1 Broad Street for their kindness and culinary skills.
Looking ahead we have planned another table top tack sale on February 21st at EDWYN RALPH VILLAGE HALL, BROMYARD. More details are HERE
We are also now beginning to plan our annual WAYS WITH HORSES event which will run on Sunday 2nd September 2012. More details will follow but already we have a great line up of professional folk  coming along to help you out with any issues and to encourage you to look at different ways with horses.
