Dinky and Bessie pass to rainbow bridge
Friday,September 21st 2007
Such a sad day for EMW Herefordshire.
It is with deep sorrow that we report the passing of our two lovely veteran mares

Dinky (Larksong - PBA by Song of India) aged 26 years. |
| And, Bessie, traditional old Welsh cob mare, aged a grand 38 years. | ![]() |
| Both mares had been within the sanctuary protection for 13 years respectively. We have been priviledged to have cared for both these old girls. They have each brought great joy and both were unique characters. RIP my lovelies. | |
|
Our condolances also to those who knew and loved Bessie and to Sarah who owned and loved Dinky for 13 years in her younger years. |

Away - written by Elaine for Khalif but also for my girls. |

Part of our work in the sanctuaries involves caring for old horses like Dinky and Bessie. It is inevitable that along the way we will have to say goodbye to those we love very much. If you have an elderly horse or pony please consider very carefully before passing that horse into new hands. The final act of love and devotion is often the hardest - a peaceful and dignified end, with those who knowthe horse and who care, in a place that horse knows of as home Our grateful thansk as always to Phillip Smith-Maxwell for a professional removal service.
